My Greek DNA Beats Yours
Dear U of U: You don't have to be born in Greece to be a Greek.
A couple of years ago, I and other family members traced our DNA through FamilyTree.com. My DNAso that of my father, his Greek father and so ontested into Haplogroup R1a1, meaning our Y chromosomes have been wandering around central Europe since at least the time of the last Ice Age. My mother';s Cretan father (tested via a male cousin born to my mother';s brother) was shown to be a member of Haplogroup J2. That group is found throughout the ancient seafaring regions of the eastern Mediterranean. Landing there perhaps thanks to the Phoenicians, J2 is prevalent on the island of Crete, and it dates at least to the Minoan era.
That means distant male relatives of mine have been traipsing on or around the Greek homelands for thousands of years. During those millennia, the great power Macedon arose in what is now northern Greece and gave history two great leaders: Phillip II and his son, Alexander the Great, who conquered the world.
When he did so, he used some of those J2 DNA Cretans as archers in his army. Given the prevalence of R1a1 DNA throughout the Balkans, I can easily imagine that somebody in my bloodline helped Alexander ride into history. As such, I';m more than interested in the current tensions in that region between Greece and its neighbor to the north.
Macedonia is the northernmost Greek province, spreading vastly outward from the main port city of Thessaloniki. In recent decades, the southernmost republic of what was once called Yugoslavia southern Serbia in factmagically began calling itself Macedonia, too. The two Macedonias border each other. Imagine if someone decided to change the name of northern Mexico to Texas. Texans would be pissed. Well, Greeks are pissed.
Some very passionateor crazyscholars argue about who is the more rightful heir to the name Macedonia. It';s an important issue because the Republic of Macedonia (a name barely recognized even beyond Greecemaps refer to it as FYROM, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) is seeking admission into the European Union. It';s a silly point. You can';t have two places of the same name bordering each other. Greece wins. They had it first and longest. Period.
The Greek region of Macedonia comprises over 75 percent of what was the former Macedonia, including the Macedonian cities of Pella, Vergina and Thessaloniki. The capital of FYROM is Skopje, which lies beyond the borders of ancient Macedon. That';s easily explained if you have lots of time, but basically, say thanks to Yugoslav leader Josip Tito (who promoted the name Macedonia in southern Serbia while aspiring to extend his domain through Greece to the warm port city of Thessaloniki); Communist insurgencies; plus Greek, Bulgarian, Serbian and Albanian conquests, among others.
If you think Mormons and non-Mormons fight a lot and say nasty things to one another, you need to check out what the people supporting FYROM are saying about the Greeks. And what the Greeks are saying back. Greeks living in the northern provinces suffered terribly during the civil war that followed World War II while rejecting their own Communist uprising that consumed countries to their north. Thousands were slaughtered by the Bulgarians who also have eyes on Macedonia. For Greeks, it';s not merely an ancient name they lay claim to but their very heritagethey would live in freedom or die fighting for it. Since they live on the best lands of ancient Macedon, they';ve been run over more than a BYU defensive back. Both sides fought dirty; both can point to atrocities by the other. You can easily discover if the Greeks were protecting their historic homelands or expanding their influence into the Tito';s cabbage patches.
The argument distills around whether ancient Macedonia was ever Greekor, correctly, Hellenicin the first place. If those arguing for FYROM claim they are the real ethnic heirs to Macedonia, then they should call up FamilyTree.com and find out. But given just-recent history with so many Albanians, Serbs and Bulgarians moving in and out of there, it would only prove that their slice of ancient Macedonia has new tenants. Hellenism is conceptual, not ethnic, and Greek is a language not an ethnicity. FYROM doesn';t get the concept, but it';s this: You don';t have to be born in Greece to be a Greek.
Alexander is a Greek name. So is Phillip. So is Thessaloniki. So is Bucephalus, the name given Alexander';s ox-headed horse (and, also, trivia nuts, the nickname of Hank "Bocephus" Williams Jr.). Macedon participated in the exclusively Greek ancient Olympic Games. Alexander was tutored by Aristotle, a Greek. Alexander and his Macedonian kingdom were Greek.
This week, the University of Utah is sponsoring the seventh Macedonian-North American Conference on Macedonian Studiesa scholarly attempt to commit national identity theft of the name Macedonia. There will be plenty of fingerpointing going onif Greeks are allowed in to point back, that is. Each side will say they suffered more. Each will say the other is reshaping history. Each will count dead bodies, broken promises and acts of barbarism. And none of that will change the consequence of allowing two states or nations to share the same namemore trouble for that region.
University of Utah President Michael Young is right to allow such free expression on his campus. But Michael Young probably lacks either R1a1 or J2 DNA, too, so he may not understand why Greeks are riled at him. I suspect he';d feel differently if a long-lost cousin of his, maybe a Benjamin Young, started a new university in Orem, called it BYU and began claiming victimization while trashing Brigham Young himself. Yeah, he';s related, and Brigham likely did some awful things in his day, but that wouldn';t mean Michael might not want to wipe Benjamin';s snot off.

In this rare British Edition Map of Greece from 1829, the whole of Macedonia is in Greece proper and considered a Greek province. Also notice that all the names of cities in Macedonia are Greek. Skopje (Scupi) is outside of the territory of Macedonia and is in Dardania Propria.

Thank you for your reply. But I believe your answer is not nearly an apology, nor an attempt to correct your mistake whatsoever. It is rather considered by all Geek-Hellenes Macedon';s an amateur legalistic attempt to evade the issue.
You say: "On the question itself, we have looked back at the records, and subject to procedure this was checked with two trusted sources."
This is highly problematic. Who are your "two trusted sources"? This is not a police inquiry, where you have "two trusted sources/informants" that report to you on a particular issue. We are talking here about something that happened publicly, and the video is available and on the public domain. I understand and I respect your good will, but the issue is of immense importance, it penetrates into sensitive political issues and the relations of two states, and has to do with world history, and it';s not a matter of "two trusted sources". There are myriads of sources of every type and kind you can imagine (cultural, ethnological, historical, political, sociological, archaeological and so on) that prove without the slightest doubt that Alexander the Great was Hellene Macedonian which for your information is Greek.

Apologizing for the flag of FYROM is not enough. Because, yes, at that time neither FYROM nor Greece existed in the form of state that they exist today. And as I recall, neither a "Macedonian" country exists today but only one that is incorrectly called FYROM. But this does not change the fact that Alexander the Great was a Greek from Macedonia-Hellas. In the same fashion, England did not exist as a modern nation-state in 800-900 AD either, but this didn';t stop Alfred the Great, King of Wessex to liberate the English people from Viking occupation.
Therefore, I ask you, in the same fashion that you asked the players: What nationality was King Alfred the Great? English or Wessexian?
Which is the correct answer? Does that answer negate the other?

FYROM is a nation. It is not an ethnicity. Its language is an idiom of the Bulgarian language with Slavic roots.
I would like to ask you to cross check the following information:
1. February 26 1992: FYROM's President at that time -Kiro Gligorov- at an interview reported by the US Foreign Information Service's Daily Report on Eastern Europe stated: "We are Slavs, who came to this region in the sixth century. We are not descendants of the ancient Macedonians."
2. June 3, 1992: FYROM's President at that time -Kiro Gligorov- in an interview after a meeting with the Greek government admitted that FYROM has no relation to ancient Macedonia. That the people of FYROM are Slavs:

3. January 22 1999: FYROM's Ambassador in Washington, DC - Mrs. Ljubica Acevshka - gave a speech on the present situation in the Balkans. At the end of her speech answering to questions Mrs. Acevshka said: "We do not claim to be descendents of Alexander the Great. Greece is FYROM's second largest trading partner, and its number one investor. Instead of opting for war, we have chosen the mediation of the United Nations, with talks on the ambassadorial level under Mr. Vance and Mr. Nemitz." On the same occasion and in reply to a question about the ethnic origin of the people of FYROM, Ambassador Achevska stated: "we are Slavs and we speak a Slavic language."
4. February 24 1999: In an interview with the Ottawa Citizen, Gyordan Veselinov - FYROM's Ambassador to Canada - admitted: "We are not related to the northern Greeks who produced leaders like Philip and Alexander the Great. We are Slav people and our language is closely related to Bulgarian." He also commented "there is some confusion about the identity of the people of this country."
5. U.S. State Department, Foreign Relations Vol. VII, Circular Airgram (868.014 / 26 Dec. 1944) by then Secretary of State E. Stettinius:
"The Department has noted with considerable apprehension increasing propaganda rumors and semi-official statements in favor of an autonomous Macedonia emanating from Bulgaria, but also from Yugoslav Partisan and other sources, with the implication that Greek territory would be included in the projected state. "This Government considers talk of Macedonian "nation", Macedonian "Fatherland" or Macedonian "national consciousness" to be unjustified demagoguery representing no ethnic or political reality, and sees in its present revival a possible cloak for aggressive intentions against Greece".
You realize that I have used the statements made by officials of FYROM. No Greeks.
ALL of these statements say that there is NO Macedonian ethnicity, NO Macedonian language, NO Macedonian history that is separate from the Hellenic people. On what do FYROMians dare to say that there is a separate Macedonian ethnicity, a distinct Macedonian language, and Macedonian territory, which is "occupied" by Greece.
THE ONLY ETHNIC IDENTITY OF ANYTHING MACEDONIAN IS HELLENIC.

Η USAID (Αμερικανική Υπηρεσία διεθνούς Ανάπτυξης) είναι ένα όργανο άσκησης εξωτερικής πολιτικής των ΗΠΑ. Μέσω αυτής, η Αμερική χρηματοδοτεί μη κυβερνητικές οργανώσεις(ΜΚΟ) καθώς και ομάδες και άτομα, που με τη δράση τους σε διάφορες χώρες προωθούν τα συμφέροντα των ΗΠΑ. Χρησιμοποιεί πάντα εύηχα συνθήματα (δημοκρατία, ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα, ειρήνη, πρόοδος κλπ) ώστε να παραπλανά τους λαούς των χωρών - στόχων. Στην Κύπρο έδρασε χρηματοδοτώντας το «ναι» στο σχέδιο Ανάν χρησιμοποιώντας ως συνθήματα την «επανένωση», «τη συμφιλίωση, την «ειρήνη» κλπ και οργανώνοντας σεμινάρια κατήχησης σε μια νέα ιστορία της Κύπρου. Στην Ελλάδα διέβρωσε το πολιτικό σύστημα και την εκπαιδευτική κοινότητα με αποτέλεσμα την αποδοχή του σχεδίου Αναν και την συγγραφή του φιλοτουρκικού βιβλίου της Στ Δημοτικού που τελικά αποσύρθηκε μετά από αντιδράσεις. Τα τελευταία χρόνια η USAID έδρασε σε χώρες της πρώην Σοβιετικής Ένωσης, στην Ουκρανία με την «πορτοκαλί επανάσταση» και στη Γεωργία με την «επανάσταση των ρόδων» του Σαακασβίλι. Στόχος της ήταν η άνοδος στην εξουσία αντιρωσσικών δυνάμεων, ώστε να αποσπάσει τις χώρες αυτές από την ρωσική επιρροή και να αποκτήσει πρόσβαση στον ενεργειακό πλούτο της περιοχής. Σε χώρες της Λατινικής Αμερικής, όπως η Βολιβία, η Βενεζουέλα και το Εκουαδόρ, η USAID μιλώντας «για ενίσχυση των δημοκρατικών θεσμών» προσπαθεί να δημιουργήσει εσωτερικές έριδες και συγκρούσεις στοχεύοντας σε αποσταθεροποίηση των χωρών αυτών και των εκλεγμένων κυβερνήσεών τους. Προσπαθεί ακόμα να δημιουργήσει αυτονομιστικές τάσεις μέσω της ανάδειξης σύγκρουσης συμφερόντων μεταξύ πληθυσμιακών ομάδων(η τακτική αυτή μου θυμίζει την Κύπρο) ώστε να διασπάσει τους τοπικούς πληθυσμούς.
Ελπίζει ότι έτσι θα μπορεί να ελέγχει πλουτοπαραγωγικές περιοχές στις χώρες αυτές, ανεξάρτητα από τις κυβερνήσεις που εκλέγονται από τον λαό. Φαίνεται όμως ότι οι λατινοαμερικάνικες κυβερνήσεις μυρίστηκαν τη δράση των αμερικανών και έτσι η Βολιβία και η Βενεζουέλα έδιωξαν τους αμερικανούς πρέσβεις. Ο Πούτιν επίσης αντιλήφθηκε έγκαιρα την δράση της USAID και των ΜΚΟ και εμπόδισε τη διάβρωση της χώρας του. Φαίνεται ότι και οι Ουκρανοί αρχίζουν να ξυπνούν από τη πλύση εγκεφάλου που τους έγινε. Μόνο στη Κύπρο πολλοί ανεπαρκείς πολιτικοί κοιμούνται μακαρίως και θεωρούν ότι η USAID προωθεί λύση και επανένωση με την προπαγάνδα της. Γίνονται έτσι τα αφελή όργανα προώθησης της αμερικανικής πολιτικής στη Κύπρο που είναι φιλοτουρκική πολιτική. Στην Κύπρο η USAID ξόδεψε - ανεξέλεγκτα - εκατομμύρια δολάρια υπέρ του σχεδίου Ανάν. Περιμένουμε(άδικα θα μου πείτε) να ερευνήσει η Βουλή ποιοι εισέπραξαν χρήματα για την προώθηση της αμερικανικής πολιτικής στη Κύπρο. Οι ΗΠΑ δεν αποκαλύπτουν όλες τις χρηματοδοτήσεις τους, ίσως γιατί χρειάζονται ακόμα τις υπηρεσίες κάποιων ατόμων ή ομάδων. Όταν λοιπόν λένε οι αμερικανοί ότι ενδιαφέρονται για λύση είναι προφανές ότι εννοούν φιλοτουρκική λύση. Όταν ο Ντάνιελ Φριντ έλεγε(μπροστά σε πολλούς μάρτυρες)ότι οι ΗΠΑ έδωσαν την Κύπρο στην Τουρκία μέσω του σχεδίου Αναν, αποκάλυπτε απλώς με ποια αντίληψη κινούνται. Όταν, συνεπώς, ο Ντάνιελ Φριντ λέει μετά την πρόσφατη συνάντηση με τον Μ.Κυπριανού, ότι τώρα είναι η καλύτερη ευκαιρία για λύση του κυπριακού, είναι αυτονόητο ότι εννοεί μια λύση τύπου Αναν. Θεωρούν ότι η απομάκρυνση του «κακού» Τάσσου άνοιξε τον δρόμο για υποχωρήσεις της πλευράς μας και λύση σύμφωνη με τις προδιαγραφές τους. Συνεπώς μπροστά στην προπαγάνδα της USAID οφείλουμε να αμυνθούμε. Αντ'αυτού κάποιοι την υποστηρίζουν και κινούνται παράλληλα με αυτήν, βλάπτοντας την Κύπρο.

Fyrom (Former Yugoslav Republic Of Macedonia) created in it's actual form , in the 1940's by Tito as a federal state of Yugoslavia, changing it's original name of Vardaska Banovina to 'Macedonia', is an artificial entity, used by the time as a political 'Trojan Horse' of istability and future political games in the area.

Tito's plan to create a 'macedonian' nation with a 'macedonian' ethnicity and language , it was a difficult one, as from the antiquity, 'macedonians' were known as Greeks, speaking the same language and having the same traditions as the rest of the Greeks (thessalians, athenians, spartans and so on...).
Modern and Historical Macedonia
The original thought of Tito, - underestemated by the Greeks, based on their believes that their allies (europeans - USAns ect) would never permit the realization of Tito's plan of attempting a war with Greece for an 'exodus' to the Aegean sea and because of their historical prooves - it wasn't just a dream...
Time changed many things since the Tito's age, and Slavs and other popolations of today's FYROM grewn up with the idea of being somehow a kind of Alexander's descendants... being them Slavs that mixed with the original Greeks (Macedonians) of the area and the IDEA of a Slavic MACEDONIA was born...
Tito's plan, under the todays political and strategical circumstanses, passed to the administration of BUSH junior, as a plan to control the whole Balkan area and especially the most powerfull free state of the area, Greece.
Doing that, Bush administration, changed the USA's position on the 'macedonian' issue, regognized the new artificial state of FYROM as 'Republic of Macedonia'... pushed to that by political and economical expectations in the area, underestemating the Greece's reaction and opposition.
The problem was that Greeks are Macedonians and their history is so old and living, to be falsificated just for political purposes...
The Historical Macedonian Area is ALL part of the actual Greek national territory, and what some trying to present as N. Macedonia or Vardar Macedonia or Pirin Macedonia is just an immaginary historical area with poor historical macedonian antiquities or none at all.
What was the original Historical Macedonia, is the Greek territory with it's ancient macedonian cities and it's greek culture, languge, gods...

The FYROM state devided in Albanian and Slavobulgarian (the so called 'macedonians') sectors, is the Trojan Horse of instabillity, supported unexpectably by the Worst ever Usa administration, Bushe's junior, and by Soro's plans to control the balkan area, against the Russian threat, as they see it...

The medals will be given to Free European Alliance - Vinozito in Lerin, Greece, OMO Ilinden Pirin Goce delcev in Bulgaria, Evtim Mitrevski of the Association of Macedonians in Albania at the village of Globocani - Prespa as well as Professor Angelina Markus in Macedonia.
The medals will be handed to the winners on in the Promotion Room of St. Kliment Ohridski University Library in Bitola on Thursday.

Αποχώρησε η ελληνική αντιπροσωπεία από διάσκεψη της Ουνέσκο για την πολιτιστική κληρονομιά στη Νοτιοανατολική Ευρώπη, επειδή χρησιμοποιήθηκε το όνομα Δημοκρατία της Μακεδονίας για τη ΦΥΡΟΜ και διανεμήθηκε βιβλίο για τη λεγόμενη -από τα Σκόπια- «μακεδονική γλώσσα».
Σύμφωνα με πληροφορίες του City 99,5, το επεισόδιο συνέβη το Σάββατο στο Βουκουρέστι και έχει ήδη γίνει διάβημα από την ελληνική πρεσβεία στη ρουμανική πρωτεύουσα.

Ρουσόπουλος σε ερώτηση αν ήταν σε γνώση του Μεγάρου Μαξίμου η συνάντηση της κ. Μπακογιάννη με τον Υπουργό των Εξωτερικών της ΠΓΔΜ Αντόνιο Μιλόσοσκι.
Ο κυβερνητικός εκπρόσωπος δήλωσε πως όντως προγραμματίζεται συνάντηση της κ. Μπακογιάννη με το μεσολαβητή του ΟΗΕ για το θέμα της ονομασίας της ΠΓΔΜ Μ.Νίμιτς και παρέπεμψε στις δηλώσεις που θα κάνει η υπουργός Εξωτερικών αμέσως μετά.
«Η προσπάθεια γίνεται για να εξευρεθεί λύση που και ιστορικά και σε ό,τι αφορά το αίσθημα των Ελλήνων θα ανταποκρίνεται σ' αυτό που επιθυμούμε», τόνισε και ανέφερε πως η θέση μας είναι γνωστή κι έχει επαναληφθεί πολλές φορές από τον πρωθυπουργό και την Υπουργό των Εξωτερικών.
Δεν είχε και δεν έχει καθοριστεί καμία τέτοια συνάντηση, δήλωσε ο κυβερνητικός εκπρόσωπος Θόδωρος Ρουσόπουλος, ερωτηθείς πως ερμηνεύει η κυβέρνηση την άρνηση του Προέδρου της ΠΓΔΜ Μπράνκο Τσερβενκόφσκι να συναντηθεί με την Υπουργό των Εξωτερικών Ντόρα Μπακογιάννη.
Ερωτηθείς αν θα γίνει αποδεκτή η πρόταση του Νομάρχη Θεσσαλονίκης Π. Ψωμιάδη να μη συνενωθεί ο Δήμος της Βεργίνας με άλλους δήμους, ο Θόδωρος Ρουσόπουλος είπε πως στο ειδικό θέμα δεν έχει απάντηση και σημείωσε ότι όπως έχει δηλώσει και ο Υπουργός Εσωτερικών, θα γίνουν σεβαστές οι προτάσεις της ΚΕΔΚΕ.
Ν. Γκρούεφσκι: «Θετική η επικείμενη συνάντηση Τσερβένκοφσκι- Μπακογιάννη»
Ο πρωθυπουργός της ΠΓΔΜ Νίκολα Γκρούεφσκι εξέφρασε αμφιβολίες για τις αναφορές από το γραφείο του Προέδρου της χώρας Μπράνκο Τσερβένκοφσκι ότι ο τελευταίος δεν προτίθεται να συναντηθεί με την Υπουργό Εξωτερικών της Ελλάδας Ντόρα Μπακογιάννη, στο περιθώριο των εργασιών της 63ης Γενικής Συνέλευσης του ΟΗΕ.
Από το γραφείο του Προέδρου της ΠΓΔΜ αναφερόταν την Κυριακή ότι ο Μπράνκο Τσερβένκοφσκι δεν προτίθεται να συναντηθεί με την Υπουργό Ντόρα Μπακογιάννη στη Ν.Υόρκη, επειδή δεν είναι του ίδιου επιπέδου. Και προστίθετο ότι μία τέτοια συνάντηση θα ήταν «αντιπαραγωγική», καθότι οι τελευταίες αναθεωρημένες ιδέες του μεσολαβητή του ΟΗΕ Μάθιου Νίμιτς δεν είναι πλήρως επεξεργασμένες.
«Αμφιβάλλω για όλα αυτά και είμαι πεπεισμένος ότι ο κ.Τσερβένκοφσκι θα πράξει ό,τι περνάει από το χέρι του για την επίλυση της εκκρεμότητας της ονομασίας», δήλωσε τη Δευτέρα ο κ. Γκρούεφσκι..
«Ο κ. Τσερβένκοφσκι είναι έμπειρος πολιτικός και πάντοτε έλεγε ότι πρέπει να αξιοποιηθεί κάθε ευκαιρία για να βρεθεί λύση στο πρόβλημα της ονομασίας, καθώς κάτι τέτοιο είναι ιδιαίτερα σημαντικό για την ευρωατλαντική προοπτική της χώρας»,ανέφερε ακόμη ο κ. Γκρούεφσκι.
Υπενθύμισε ότι ο κ.Τσερβένκοφσι εμπλέκεται στο θέμα της ονομασίας από το 1992 και πρόσθεσε ότι δεν πρέπει να χαθεί καμιά ευκαιρία για να επιτευχθεί πρόοδος στο ζήτημα της ονομασίας.
Τέλος ο κ. Γκρούεφσκι ανέφερε ότι «αναμένει αποτελέσματα» από την επαφές του κ.Τσερβένκοφσκι στη Ν.Υόρκη.

Επιστολή προς τον πρωθυπουργό της πΓΔΜ Νικόλα Γκρούεφσκι
Επιστολή - παρέμβαση προς τον πρωθυπουργό της πΓΔΜ Νικόλα Γκρούεφσκι, απέστειλε ο πρώην υπουργός Βορείου Ελλάδος κ. Νικόλαος Μάρτης, με αφορμή τους πρόσφατους προσβλητικούς, αυθαίρετους και αβάσιμους ισχυρισμούς του κατά της Ελλάδας. Στην επιστολή ο κ. Μάρτης παραθέτει αναλυτικά πολιτικά και ιστορικά γεγονότα, τα οποία αποδεικνύουν την ελληνικότητα της Μακεδονίας.

POLITICAL AND HISTORICAL FACTS PUT TO MR GRUEFSKI
Following the recent offensive, arbitrary and unfounded allegations of Mr Gruefski against Greece, I find it both necessary and useful to put the following political and historical facts to him.
I first make reference to the Stability and Association between FYROM and the EU Agreement, signed in 2001, in which there are 4 essential terms and conditions:
- Respect for the democratic principles and the human rights (article 2)
- Peace and good relations with neighbouring countries.
Prerequisites for good neighbourly relations are compromise solutions, respect of the aforementioned essential Agreement terms and conditions and particularly respect of democratic principles and human rights, which FYROM does not seem to have complied with.
In the official government website of FYROM, the above Agreement was presented as Agreement of the Democracy of Macedonia (instead of FYROM) among the 16 countries of the European Market (instead of the EU) and the world opinion was thus gravely misled.
In FYROM'; s parliamentary elections, the rules observed by democratic countries were never kept.
The existence of a Macedonian minority was presented by FYROM, which presupposes the existence of a Macedonian nation. Macedonian nation has never existed nor does it exist now. Macedonians are Greek.
This is corroborated by the Old and the New Testament and the ancient writers (Greek, Hebrew and Roman). The Macedonians had, together with the rest of the Greeks, the same sanctuaries and the same Gods, whose domicile was the Macedonian mountain Olympus. The 9 Muses were born on the Macedonian mountain Pieria. The Macedonian language was Greek and the Macedonians took part in the Olympic games and the Amphictyonys, in which only Greeks could take part. Macedonians had theatres and as it is well known only the ancient Greeks had theatres.
Mr. Zelev, on a formal visit to Sweden as President of Bulgaria, replied to a journalist'; s question: «The Macedonian nation is a post-war fabrication of Commitern and a political felony committed by Tito and Stalin.
Mr. Jafferi, leader of the Albanian Political Party at Skopje, stated that: «Macedonianism is imaginary and is based on a myth and the falsification of the history». In a more recent statement he said: « It is also rejected by the scientists».
The central Israelite Council of Greece, writes in a letter addressed to the Jewish associations all over the world «The Jewish religion and philology constitute the undeniable witnesses of the ancient ethnological character of Macedonians as Greek».
During the visit of today'; s Greek Prime Minister, Costas Karamanlis, to the White House, a high Official said to the journalist Mr. Apoke:" Every one knows that ancient Macedonia is part of the ancient Greek world. The historical facts cannot change». (Newspaper To Vima, 16.06.2004)
In 1995 the Institute of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, in collaboration with the Lund University and the signature of the author Staffan Stolpe, wrote in a study they had made about Macedonia: «The history of Macedonia is only the history of the Greeks, but also of all of us the Europeans, because the Greek civilisation, which was spread throughout Europe and the entire world and it affects us even today, was promulgated by the Macedonians».
In 1992 the American Foreign Minister Henry Kissinger stated in Paris: «Greece is right about the name. I say this because I know history that many don'; t. Among those who do not know history are Ministers and High Officials in Washington. Greece'; s strong weapon is her history, but I ought to say that she has not made proper use of it».
As the basis of the pseudo- Macedonian nation is the false assertion that the Macedonians are not Greek, the forgers of the history of Macedonia, in order to establish the pseudo - Macedonian nation, used deceits and lies that are found in the school books of FYROM.
The speaking the historical truth, marbles of Macedonia, as well as the preserved monuments of the Hellenistic world, reveal most eloquently the historical truth.
In all important events through the years, appear Bulgarians, Serbs, Albanians, Greeks, Jews, and Turks, who belong to related nations of the Balkans. Nowhere is any Macedonian mentioned, because there never was a «Macedonian nation», as the Macedonians are referred to as Greeks. The Macedonian issue was created in March 1878 with the St Stephen Treaty. In July of the same year the Berlin Treaty
overturned the St Stephen Treaty. Lord Salsbury, in charge of the British legation, proposed (19.06.187
that Greece also should participate in the convention, saying: «Macedonia and Thrace are as Greek as Crete». In 1905, no Macedonian appeared in the general census of the population (Hilmi Pasha). In 1912 the new Turkish government proclaimed parliamentary elections with the participation of minorities. Not one appeared as a Macedonian candidate or a voter. In 1912, upon the declaration of the First Balkan War, as soon as the Greek army liberated Thessaloniki, the General Administration of Macedonia was founded. No one reacted, because they all knew that Macedonia is Greek. In 1913 the Second Balkan War took place and the boundaries of Greece - Bulgaria and Greece - Serbia were defined.It is a lie that Macedonia was divided because nowhere in the Treaties is the word «Macedonia» mentioned, which did not exist during the Turkish rule.
Greece is a country, which has actually aided your people and will continue to do so for the sake of peace and good neighbourly co-existence in the area. However, for the aforementioned reasons any name of your country, which contains the word «Macedonia» should be excluded, as Macedonia has been Greek throughout history and an inextricable part of Greece.
