RE: Harry Nicolaides - Lese Majeste Charge

We are writing to you on behalf of the community associations and individuals

listed below and also the family of Harry Nicolaides, an Australian citizen, who

has been arrested and detained at the Bangkok Remand Prison since 31 August

2008 on a charge of Lese Majeste pursuant to the Thai penal code.

Harry has since been refused three bail applications and has been detained for

almost 7 weeks. His family and friends and the undersigned parties are deeply

concerned about his welfare and are hoping that his case can be expedited

quickly through the Thai criminal justice system.

The purpose of this letter is to make and support an impassioned plea to His

Majesty the King and his Royal family and to the relevant Thai authorities to

take active steps that will enable Harry';s case to be dealt with swiftly. The

Nicolaides family has sent you a letter dated 16 September 2008 detailing

Harry';s background and circumstances and which offered a sincere apology to

the Royal family on behalf of Harry. We would be grateful if, as the Ambassador

to Thailand, you could refer this letter on behalf of all the undersigned parties

and the letter from Harry';s family dated 16 September 2008 direct to the Royal

family and to the Thai authorities responsible for the prosecution of Harry';s

case.

We, the undersigned parties, fully support an impassioned plea to have Harry

Nicolaides'; case dealt with very swiftly and that steps are taken to allow his

release at the earliest possible opportunity.
